Helping Schools and Teachers To Be More Data Smart

In my work as an educational data analyst and consultant, I host Oracle databases, create Application Express data reporting sites, and manage the uploading of all of the data supplied to me by the school district. Through the use of a database, I am able to collect huge amounts of data, and link that data at the student level to track student, teacher, and school performance over time. For one of my client school districts, I have 8 years of data. This historical data makes it possible for the school data team is able to see the high school student's performance going back to grade 3.

Often schools have lots of data in various student information systems and assessment reporting systems. However, these data are not integrated or normalized so they can be analyzed or compared and interpreted. Through converting scores to normal curve equivalent scores and representing the scores in charts and graphs the data becomes easier to interpret.

From my training and professorship in assessment and statistics, I am in a unique position to make sense of and analyze the data.

From my experience as an accountability administrator and data coach, I am able to guide schools to become high-performing and respected in their school districts.

From my experience as a teacher and curriculum developer, I know what is needed by teachers to help them better understand the data provided to them and to use data to improve instruction and learning.

I hope you "Follow" my blog and find the information I provide useful in your professional journey.

My parent company is Data Smart LLC and I provide data resources to school districts.
